Progetto Diogene is pleased to announce that art collective Apparatus 22 from Bucharest, Romania, was chosen to receive the BIVACCOURBANO_R Residency and research grant for artistic research 2015.

Apparatus 22 is a multidisciplinary art collective initiated by current members Erika Olea, Maria Farcas, Dragos Olea and late artist Ioana Nemes (1979, Bucharest – 2011, NY) in January 2011 in Bucharest, Romania.
Apparatus 22 is exploring the intricate relationships between fashion and economy, politics, gender studies, social movements, religion, in order to understand the contemporary society.
A string of very diverse works – installations, performances, text based – shapes their practice in which reality is mixed with fiction and storytelling and all merges with a critical approach drawing knowledge & experience from design, sociology, literature and economics.

The work of the collective was exhibited at La Biennale di Venezia 2013, Romanian Official Representation II – Reflection Centre for Suspended Histories. An Attempt exhibition.

As part of their residency in Turin this fall Apparatus 22 will hold both a lecture and an open studio:

 

Talk: ON SPHERES , MAGPIES, SLAPPING AND RELIGION

“On spheres, magpies, slapping and religion” is a lecture introducing the practice of the collective from many points of view: themes of interest for research and production, processes of articulating and ideas and relation, relation with audience, the context they are coming from and many more.
Following the talk you will have the opportunity to discover Apparatus 22’s “Portraying Simulacra” – a digital questionnaire looking at the disruptive and illusory world of FAKE objects, experiences and emotions.

The selection was made by a committee composed of the artists of the Diogene Project (Franco Ariaudo, Andrea Caretto, Manuele Cerutti, Luca Luciano, Laura Pugno, Raffaella Spagna, and Cosimo Veneziano) who assigned the artist access to the consolidated half-year residency program of Bivaccourbano, beginning in September in the Diogene tramcar located on the roundabout island in Aurora Quarter Corso Regio Parco. In addition to the opportunity of staying in Turin to develop his work, Apparatus 22 collective will receive a research grant to support her their costs and a studio where she they can work on the development and execution of works.
The residency program and research grant Diogene Bivaccourbano_R 2015, are supported by Compagnia di San Paolo, Regione Piemonte Region, under the patronage of Città di City of Torino and in collaboration of GTT Local Public Transport Group Gruppo Torinese Trasporti.
